Will Smith Recruits Denzel for Lead in Katrina Film

Will Smith has his sights set on getting Denzel Washington to star in “The American Can,” a film that tells the heroic story of John Keller, who saved several elderly residents during Hurricane Katrina. 

Will was originally going to produce and star in the film, but he wants to remain behind-the-scenes and have Denzel take the lead role, reports Vulture.com.

The film follows the plight of residents living in the American Can apartment complex when New Orleans was destroyed by flood waters. For two days, Keller, a six-foot-seven former Marine, carried residents to safety on the rooftop after the building was flooded with rancid water. 

We think Denzel would be perfect for the role. We’ll have to wait and see if he agrees to team up with Will on this project.
