At the after-party for “Love, Loss, and What I Wore” earlier this week, LaLa Vazquez revealed her own story of love and loss.
“Before Mel, I had a boyfriend, and he proposed to me on national television,” LaLa recounts, describing the somewhat romantic moment from MTV’s 2002 New Year’s Eve show. “I said ‘yes’ because I remember not wanting to embarrass him. I loved him and he was my friend. Obviously, we broke off the engagement… I realized I was really young and didn’t want to be engaged.”

The reality star, now wed to longtime beau, New York Knicks superstar Carmelo Anthony, is reveling in her acting debut. The star landed her first role in the off-Broadway show, “Love, Loss, and What I Wore” based on the novel by the same name.

“I thought theater was a great way for people to see my work as an actress and see what I can do.” LaLa says.
The comedic play chronicles the lives of 5 women through a series of monologues. Each woman evolves through her own experiences, while at the same time documenting what they wore along the way.
LaLa’s roles include a gang member, a lesbian, and a mother.
“You know, I tell so many different stories, but I think what I bring to the play is, I’m the youngest member of the cast, so I bring that edgy, cool element, and you know my stories are definitely different stories that I think our generation can relate to.”
The play runs indefinitely, but LaLa is only in it through the month of October! Congrats to LaLa!
