Two Eleven represents the singer’s birthday and the day that her icon and mentor, Whitney Houston, passed away.
While on stage, Brandy took the time to dispel rumors that she would be performing a tribute to the late pop star. “I heard there was a rumor that I was doing a Whitney Houston tribute tonight — unfortunately that’s not true, because I would be an emotional wreck right now,” she explained. “I’m just not ready to sing any of her songs. You guys know what that’s like,” reports Ace Showbiz.
As for the album’s sound, The Game star tells Rolling Stone Magazine, “I haven’t done R&B in a very long time. This album is rooted in R&B. The sound is different, it’s about love. It’s mature, it’s gritty, it’s edgy.”
So far, Brandy has collaborated with Drake, Frank Ocean, Chris Brown, and of course Monica on their new song, “It All Belongs to Me.”
