Dwyane Wade's Book on Fatherhood Out in September

While NBA all-star Dwyane Wade may be busy these days battling for his second championship ring, he is gearing up for another important time in his life: the release of his memoir on fatherhood, A Father First: How My Life Became Bigger Than Basketball. The book is scheduled to hit shelves on September 4.

Wade has been very vocal on how important being a daddy is to him, once calling it “the single most significant undertaking of my life.” In 2011, the ESSENCE February cover star won sole custody of his two boys, Zaire Blessing Dwyane Wade and Zion Malachi Airamis Wade. He has since championed his role as a dad by leading the 2012 NBA All-Star Weekend’s Fatherhood Heroes roundtable discussion, which was part of President Barack Obama’s Fatherhood and Mentoring Initiative.
