• D’Angelo’s long awaited follow up to 2000’s Voodoo is coming! His pal Questlove told Billboard the album is about “99 percent done,” and he hopes D’Angelo turns it in next month. “He’s one of those artists that have, of course, taken 13 years to follow up a record. It’s going to take you about 10 years to digest this record,” said Questlove. “Totally brilliant.” [Billboard]
• Prince is three decades into his career, and he’s still grinding away at making new music. He’s also the cover subject of the newest issue of Billboard magazine. He was also recently chosen as Billboard’s 2013 Icon Honoree for this year’s Billboard Music Awards in May. [Billboard]
• Russell Simmons denies claims that he allegedly took millions of dollars from Run Athletics. According to the company’s former president, Rasheed Young, the hip-hop mogul is guilty. Young claims Simmons and Reverend Run screwed him out of millions by placing revenue into a secret bank account. Simmons has since denied those allegations calling Young’s accusations “not true.” [TMZ]
