Even a Hollywood starlet like Lauren London battles with the challenges of being a single, working mother.
The new star of BET’s The Game says juggling her work life and raising her 3-year-old son Kameron Carter (dad is rapper Lil’ Wayne) has its challenges. “It’s not easy but I’m not the first to do it,” she told ESSENCE at our sixth annual Black Women in Hollywood luncheon. “I know I can do it; there’s a lot of mothers that work. I got the blueprint from my mother who was a working mom, so I just get it done.”
Aside from her family, London says she finds inspiration from women in the industry like The Game’s creator Mara Brock Akil, a mom of two. “Just working with Mara continues to inspire me to meet the goals that I continue to make for myself,” she said.
The 28-year-old plays former child actress Keira in the new season, premiering March 26. She says fans can expect “something very different” from her character. “I don’t think I’ve ever played a character so quirky and fun,” she said. “It was a lot of fun. I think that it is something new that I’ve done since ATL.”
The season premiere of The Game kicks off on BET on March 26. Until then, check out the newly-released promo video below.
