The last couple of months have been nothing short of amazing for Baylor University senior Brittney Griner.
The newly selected WNBA number one draft pick has landed an endorsement deal with Nike, reports USA Today.
Although details of the deal are being kept under wraps, Griner said, โItโs big-time, letโs just say that.โ
The new Phoenix Mercury star also made headlines last week when she came out of the closet with Sports Illustrated. โIt wasnโt too difficult,โ said Griner. โI wouldnโt say I was hiding or anything like that. Iโve always been open about who I am and my sexualityโฆIf I can show that Iโm out and Iโm fine and everythingโs OK, then hopefully the younger generation will definitely feel the same way.โ
The college senior, whoโs set to receive her degree this spring, was the subject of NBA co-ed discussions weeks ago when Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban said heโd be willing to give Griner a shot. Griner seemed excited about the possible invitation saying on Twitter, โI would hold my own! Letโs do it.โ
