• Last night, the Broadway community came together for a night of magic. The 2013 Tony Awards were given out at Radio City Music Hall. Legendary actress Cicely Tyson won the Tony for best performance by an actress in a leading role for her work in The Trip to Bountiful. Courtney B. Vance took home the Tony for best performance by an actor in a featured role in a play for his work in Lucky Guy. Other notable winners include Billy Porter and Patina Miller for their work in Kinky Boots and Pippin. [USA Today]
• Kanye West is doing some last minute album changes. The rapper, whose latest album Yeezus is scheduled to hit stores on June 18th, reportedly spent much of last week recording additional tracks with Rick Rubin after initial singles garnered so-so reviews. West’s legal team also spent much of last week trying to get rights to a vocal track of a Chicago choir heard on his song “Onsite.” [NY Post]
• Ciara was served with papers while performing onstage at L.A. Pride this weekend. Hit Factory is suing the “Body Party” singer for backing out of a scheduled performance Friday night. Ciara’s camp informed the club she would not be present. According to TMZ, the club kept promoting Ciara on the bill. [TMZ]
• Will Smith says he’s ready to move on from big-budget-blockbuster films. In an interview with Digital Spy Smith said, “It’s been an absolute necessity that the movie be a blockbuster, but I think I’m going to start moving out of that and finding more danger in my artistic choices.” Smith’s new film, Winter’s Tale, is set to be released later this year.
