It’s back-to-school season and most families around America are preparing for their little ones to return to the classroom—if they haven’t already.
Academy Award winner Jennifer Hudson took time away from her demanding schedule to help kids in the Chicago area get the supplies they need to make this school year a success.
The Julian D. King Gift Foundation, in honor of Hudson’s late nephew, hosted it’s third annual Hatch Day on August 14th and served approximately 1,200 kids in the area.
“Even in our loss, our family has grown and it is getting bigger and bigger each year,” said Hudson. “It gets overwhelming sometimes and it’s bitter sweet. It’s emotional, but it’s such a happy occasion at the same time.”
