Diddy’s looking to remake the ’90s cult classic King of New York, reports the Daily News.
The Revolt creator will reportedly team up with Oscar-winning director Brian Grazer to remake the film made famous by Christopher Walken, Laurence Fishburne and Wesley Snipes. According to the news outlet, Diddy has his eye on the lead role.
For those unfamiliar with the film, it follows a drug lord who returns to life on the street after a prison stint to get rid of his competition. Afterwards, he takes the money he earned and donates it to his deteriorating neighborhood to build a hospital.
Although Diddy and team are inspired by the original storyline, it won’t be exactly the same. “[We] will have the same hard-core gangster feel,” said Grazer. “Sean wants to be in it, he was amazing in Monster’s Ball, and such strong characters sit perfectly with him.”
According to IMDB resumé, he’s got quite a few projects lined up including Muppets Most Wanted, Draft Day and Shoedog—all of which are schedule to be released in 2014.
