Spike Lee is always going to tell it like it is. In a recent interview with Jorge Ramos on Fusion, the Do The Right Thing director shared his opinion on a wide range of issues including what he tells his children about race in America.
“I don’t care who you are, if you’re African American in this country, you know what the deal is,” he said. “The deal is you’re Black. The people who get in trouble are those who forget they are Black. You can’t just think I’m so successful that I’ve reached another realm.”
He went on to share his thoughts on the idea of a “post-racial” America.
“Yeah, that bullsh– where because now that we have a Black, African-American president that race no longer matters. There are times, even for me today, where it’s hard for me to catch a cab in New York.”
