We’ve heard of celebrities partaking in surprising religions, but would you have ever guessed that former Immature singer Marques Houston is a Jehovah’s Witness?
A quick look at the 34-year-old former child star reveals that he regularly posts about his religion and often snaps pics of himself going door to door preaching the good word. He recently shared a photo of himself holding Jehovah’s Witness brochures with an uplifting message. “I love being out in Service doing Jehovah’s work. #JesusWentDoorToDoor that’s why we do it,” he wrote.
Houston joins a string of celebrities, including Prince, Michael Jackson and Serena Williams, who were either raised or later converted to Jehovah’s Witness. The religion “strive to adhere to the form of Christianity that Jesus taught and his apostles practiced,” according to the Jehovah’s Witness organization.
Jehovah’s Witness are Christians who believe Jesus is God’s “only begotten Son.” They do not celebrate birthdays, donate organs or blood or belive in war.
It’s unclear when Houston became a Jehova’s Witness, but his fans have been encouraging of the change. “Keep up the good work!” wrote one follower. “Im very very proud of you man,” wrote another.
