Janelle Monae, Taraji P. Henson and Octavia Spencer were a trifecta of beauty at last night’s ceremony. The latter two were styled by hair guru Tymothe Wallace, who was inspired by legendary Black icons Diahann Carroll and Dorothy Dandridge. Using all Dove products, he gave Taraji and Octavia beautiful bobs. Shop each product below.
Once hair was cleansed, he sprayed Dove Absolute Curls Leave-In Detangler on 2-inch sections of hair before blowing them dry with a Dyson blow dryer.
Wallace used this serum to smooth and shape both Henson and Spencer’s strands. For the former, he applied and then set with pin curls to create texture, while he applied the serum to Octavia’s hair after using a flat iron to straighten her coif.
The Oscar winner (!) always has a glow and it isn’t just because of her many accolades. Last night, the Moonlight and Hidden Figures star was crowned “best dressed” by many and her beauty look was equally regal. While Nikki Nelms held court over her poppin’ pixie, makeup artist Jessica Smalls crafted a makeup look, using all CoverGirl products. Shop it all below:
Smalls shared, “I wanted to keep Janelle’s lip look soft with a peach toned nude lip, I started by lining and filling in her lips with COVERGIRL LipPerfection Liner in Smoky, then applied a swipe of COVERGIRL All Day Color & Gloss in Profound Peach to give a muted touch of color that would last throughout the entire award show.”
The Scandal star rarely hits the red carpet without Neutrogena in her pre-show routine. And the Vanity Fair Oscar party was no exception. Celebrity hairstylist Takisha Sturdivant-Drew prepped her strands with a residue-fighting duo. Shop both of them below:
