CoverGirl recently announced their latest spokeswoman, model and it-girl Amy Deanna.
Deanna is CoverGirl’s first ever model with Vitiligo. The new brand ambassador said she plans to use her platform to showcase how true beauty comes in all forms.
To kick off the new partnership, CoverGirl has released a video featuring Deanna and their CoverGirl TruBlend foundation. While promoting a product that is meant to perfect skin, Deanna embraces her own uniqueness, proving that all skin is beautiful.
Since complexion products focus on evenly complected and pigmented skin, this new campaign shows that having coloration, hyperpigmentation, and variation is normal and beautiful. Deanna said, in an official statement on the new campaign, that she uses makeup as a means to express herself.
“Vitiligo awareness is something that is very important to me. At the end of the day I am just like everyone else, I just happen to have spots,” Deanna said.
“It’s a part of my identity, but it doesn’t define who I am. For there to be so many of us and so little representation, it’s truly disheartening. I work with CoverGirl; I’m a black woman; I have vitiligo. That is empowering,” she shared.
CoverGirl says they are committed to flipping the script on beauty by challenging one-dimensional beauty standards and celebrating what makes us each unique. Get into the empowering new video below.
