50 Cent is coming after Oprah Winfrey over her decision to put the sexual assault allegations against Russell Simmons in an upcoming documentary.
Winfrey has been announced as an executive producer of a #MeToo film focusing on the women who allege the Def Jam Records founder sexually assaulted and abused them. More than 10 women have come forward in accusations first made public in a 2017 New York Times article.
Simmons has denied the allegations.
But now 50 Cent is coming out in defense of Simmons, saying that Winfrey “is going after Black men.”
“I don’t understand why Oprah is going after black men. No Harvey Weinstein, No Epstein, just Michael Jackson and Russell Simmons this shit is sad,” the rapper wrote on Instagram.
“These documentaries are publicly convicting their targets,” he continued. “It makes them guilty until proven innocent.”
According to the Los Angeles Times, the main subject of the documentary will be former A&R executive Drew Dixon. She was one of several individuals to accused Simmons of sexual misconduct in a 2017.
Dixon and two other alleged victims of Simmons will be involved in the documentary
Later Friday, 50 Cent continued his rant against Winfrey in another post: “I just want to know why she is only going after her own. When it’s clear the penalties have been far more extreme for African American men.”
Simmons also took to social media on Friday after news of Winfrey’s documentary went public.
“I am guilty of exploiting, supporting, and making the soundtrack for a grossly unequal society, but i have never been violent or forced myself on anyone, “ he said in the long Instagram message.
