Cedric the Entertainer and the Southern California Gas Company are about to go head-to-head as the comedian has filed a suit against the utility company.
According to TMZ, the comedian alleges that the gas company is responsible for making his family sick after massive amounts of gas and hazardous chemicals were released into the air in October 2015. The disaster has since been called the Porter Ranch gas leak.
The leak reportedly went on for four months, releasing 100,000 tons of natural gas, which, according to the suit, is 220 times the amount of oil released during the Deepwater Horizon oil spill off the Gulf of Mexico.
The comedian says the leak, which was apparently caused after the company failed to replace an emergency valve, caused his family to fall ill, suffering nosebleeds, nausea, vertigo, and vomiting. And, the disaster has caused his property value to plummet.
Southern California Gas Company has yet to publicly comment on the comedian’s suit.
