You know how there’s one relative that you can’t share anything with? The one who will promise to keep their mouth shut, and then immediately tell all your business to anyone who will listen including the 5 o’clock news? This person for Beyoncé is undoubtedly her father, Mathew Knowles.
Unlike her mother Tina Lawson and sister Solange who have been mum about the details of her pregnancy, Mathew sat down with CBS’s The Insider to share everything he knows about his forthcoming grandchildren.
Mathew reveals to host, Debbie Matenopoulos that he found out about the pregnancy when everyone else did, via text. “I was shocked,” he said. “I got a text and I’m like, why is this person saying, ‘Congratulations’. I didn’t know myself.”

When he called Beyoncé he says, “She sounded a little tired because she’s been working on the Grammy performance.”
But despite being the last to know, he thinks his daughter’s “strategy” was smart.
“That was very smart that she did it rather than someone else, the media, doing it. I think there’s strategy. I think there’s more to come… I’m extremely proud, extremely happy both for Jay and for her. And Blue is gonna have brothers and sisters. She is already excited.”
When Matenopoulos asks if that means she’s having a boy and a girl, he responded, “Oh, I don’t know. You have to say both because I don’t know if it’s either.”
While we can’t confirm if Bey is indeed having a boy and a girl, we do know that this semi-spillage of the tea may be the reason Mathew is the last to be told secrets.
