Celebs flooded New York City on Saturday for the premiere of The Fate of the Furious, the eighth installment in the The Fast and the Furious franchise. The film stars a slew of celebs including Ludacris, who we caught up with at the premiere.
Chatting with ESSENCE, Ludacris talked about the strong female leads in the film and admitted he’s not as handy as his character.
The rapper has appeared in five of the franchise’s films as Tej Parker, the go-to mechanic for the movie’s rag-tag illegal street racing and heist team. However, Ludcaris gives a definite “hell nah” when asked if he’s handy, adding, “That’s why they call it acting.”
The franchise and it’s recent film also includes powerful female leads, which the father of three daughters says he’s grateful for. “I love for them to see positive role models, especially when it comes to film, because then we can have that discussion afterwards,” he says. “And, for the film and some of these characters it’s also about confidence and loving yourself and family.”
You can catch Ludacris in The Fate of the Furious April 14.
