It’s been 16 years since Goapele gave the world “Closer” and in the years since we’ve loved more hits from her. Now, she’s back with another single and video for “Stay”.
Featuring BJ the Chicago Kid, the video was directed by Sean Alexander through a smokey filter. “‘Stay’ is all about how to stay in a relationship past the newness and love stronger,” Goapele told ESSENCE. “BJ was the perfect match for this 808 ballad. He has a classic but effortless vocal performance.”
Goapele’s latest EP Dreamseeker, peaked in the Top 10 of iTunes Top R&B/Soul Chart and features the critically acclaimed singles “$ecret” and the feel- good anthem “Power.”
In addition to her regularly scheduled performances, the singer also did a show at Folsom State Prison in Folsom, California recently. Sharing the photos on Twitter, the crowd also got a show from Mike Epps.
