Oprah Winfrey is stepping into a bit of uncharted territory. The media mogul headed to Haiti this past weekend to visit an encampment created for people displaced after the devastating 2010 earthquake.

Winfrey was accompanied by famed actor Sean Penn, who is responsible for creating an aid group that provides support to people who live in the encampment, according to the Washington Post. The former talk show host, who recently received the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, is always looking to lend a helping hand either at home or abroad.
