After marrying in a surprise elopement last November, the pair planned a second wedding to include their loved ones. On Saturday in Los Angeles they exchanged vows at the Vibiana cathedral. Monica, 30, wore a Stephan Roland gown. Monica’s two sons with ex-fiancé Rodney Hill, Rodney Jr., 6, and Romelo, 3, and Shannon’s son arrived together in a lovely horse-drawn carriage, reports PEOPLE.com.
Immediately following the ceremony, the couple joined their special guests for a extravagant blue and purple themed cocktail party and sit-down reception, where guests were asked to wear different shades of blue. Mark’s Garden provided hydrangea and rose centerpieces for the occasion.
Planner to the stars Mindy Weiss teamed up with Monica and Shannon to help them prepare the day. Excitement spread back in early June when the two sent luxe invites designed by Atlanta-based designer Sandi Spells of Sandi Spells Design.
Making sure those closest to them were able to share in their joy has always been top priority for the couple since they eloped.
“We married six months ago and we did it without the families, so now we’re having a celebration of our union with all of our family from Chicago and Atlanta,” Monica said at a recent tasting she attended with Shannon in preparation for the wedding.
Monica and Shannon met last summer on the set of her “All Over Me” video, and they said it was love at first sight.
