After her first year as a network executive, Oprah Winfrey is disappointed with her OWN ratings.
“I would absolutely say it is and was not where I want it to be for year one,” Winfrey tells AP. “My focus up until (last) May was doing what I do best, which is ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show,’ and giving that my full attention” until its conclusion.”

After an investment by Discovery Communications of $250 million, the network is not where it was projected to be, ratings-wise. Winfrey, who ended “The Oprah Winfrey Show” last year (her 25th) to pursue this dream, says she vows to get her network back on track.
The media maven remains positive while examining where she made mistakes. “Yes, some mistakes were made. Who hasn’t made mistakes? The real beauty is you can say, ‘I learned from that.’ I don’t worry about failure. I worry about, ‘Did I do all I could do?”

One hitch in the network’s programming seems to be the missing face of Oprah herself, so additional Oprah-inspired shows are being added, such as the original series, “Oprah’s Next Chapter,” which will follow her across the globe.
