The 69-year-old bride-to-be says she’s ready to plan her big day, with little to no help. “I am very hands-on,” she says. “There is no way in the world anyone else could do my wedding other than myself, along with whomever I select to do various things.”

Franklin tells The Associated Press she’s looking to have her summer wedding on the beach in Miami or the Hamptons where her friends have a beach home.
But what about other details like the dress and entertainment? She’s already in touch with designers Donna Karan and Vera Wang about her dress, and is possibly thinking of contacting good friends Smokey Robinson, Stevie Wonder and Karen Clark to serenade her.

When asked why she’s choosing to get married a third time around, she simply replied, “I like being married. It’s an institution that I like. So momentarily I don’t see any reason why I shouldn’t be married.”
