The 43-year-old was arrested for driving under the influence in March and now he’s fighting alcohol addiction in a treatment facility. According to TMZ, Brown entered a rehabilitation center when he realized he couldn’t fight his addiction on his own.
Alicia Etheridge, Brown’s wife of two months, confirmed the R&B singer is undergoing treatment and says he’s doing great. Brown’s return to rehab happened six months after the death of ex-wife Whitney Houston, and less than eight weeks after his second marriage to Etheridge. The two wed in a ceremony in Hawaii. Brown’s children were present for the occasion except for Bobbi Kristina.
In June, the former New Edition member returned with his first album in 14 years, The Masterpiece. Brown said working on the comeback album was therapeutic for him. “It’s what I’ve been through throughout my life, and just trying to heal myself through my music,” he said, according to Billboard.
Brown revealed he was getting his life in order so the album took longer than expected. “When you’re working on yourself, you have to really concentrate on working on yourself,” he said. “It takes a back seat to what you want to do and what I’m gonna do.”
