Tameka Raymond has filed for an appeal in the custody ruling that granted her ex-husband, Usher Raymond, primary custody of their two young boys last week. Tameka is requesting a new trial, claiming that the judge who presided over the case unfairly ruled in Usher’s favor.
The motion claims that Usher’s lawyer served on the re-election campaign committee for Judge Lane, and according to TMZ, the law firm that represented Usher raised over $1,000 for the judge’s campaign in March 2008.
TMZ reports that Tameka insists these ties caused a bias in the trial and that no evidence was ever presented in court proving she was an unfit mother.
It is unknown if the judge will rule in favor of Tameka’s new motion, but until further rulings the ex-couple will share custody, with Usher as the primary guardian, of 4-year-old Usher Raymond V and 3-year-old Naviyd Ely Raymond.
