The Whitney Houston estate has made moves to block Bobbi Kristina’s inheritance. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the trustees of Houston’s estate — including the late singer’s mother Cissy Houston and sister-in-law and business manager Marion Houston — have filed legal documents to modify the schedule of Bobbi Kristina’s payments.
The petition states that Bobbi Kristina, who is the sole beneficiary to Whitney’s estate, “is a highly visible target for those who would exert undue influence over her inheritance and/or seek to benefit from respondent’s resources and celebrity.” The 19-year-old is scheduled to receive 10% of the estate when she turns 21, one-sixth at age 25 and the full balance when she’s 30.
The documents were filed at Fulton County Superior Court in Atlanta and state that the current payment structure may conflict with Houston’s intent “to provide long-term financial security and protection for her child.”
“Compliance with the provisions of the trust would defeat or substantially impair the accomplishment of the purposes of the trust,” the petition reads, “which were to provide for the proper maintenance and comfort of the respondent, and to prevent the wasting of trust assets, as evidenced by the trust’s spend thrift provision.”
Bobbi Kristina is currently filming The Houston Family Chronicles, a Lifetime reality show scheduled to premiere on October 24th.
