Fans can look to Alicia Keys as one more reason to tune into Super Bowl XLVII in New Orleans (home of ESSENCE Festival) on Sunday February 3. According to AP reports, the singer is set to perform the national anthem, making this her third performance during the most-watched television show in U.S. history. Past national anthem singers have included legends such as the late Whitney Houston, Diana Ross and Mariah Carey.
Keys, ESSENCE magazine’s January cover girl, is the latest to join the star-studded line-up including Beyonce and Destiny’s Child, who may reunite onstage during the halftime show.
Kirk Franklin is set to host the 14th annual Super Bowl Gospel Celebration, including performances by Bishop Morton, Fantasia, and Donnie McClurkin.
