On Sunday, May 19th 2013 Billboard Music Awards will present Prince with the Billboard Icon Award at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The artist is set to put on an epic performance that will air live on ABC that night.
His award follows legendary artist Stevie Wonder, the 2012 Icon recipient who was honored with a performance by Alicia Keys.
Last year’s award show also paid tribute to the music industry’s biggest losses including performances by John Legend and Jordin Sparks for Millennium Award winner Whitney Houston. British singer Natasha Bedingfield also paid homage to Donna Summer and Cee Lo Green livened up the stage for Beastie Boys’ Adam Yauch with his rendition of “(You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (To Party).”
