The 2013 graduates of Morehouse College are in for a treat. The White House as officially announced that President Barack Obama will deliver the commencement address this spring.
The Commander-in-Chief normally speaks at a handful of college and university commencement ceremonies each year, and according to reports, the all-male college in Atlanta was chosen because it “is among the best and brightest institutions of higher education in the country.” Famous alumni include Martin Luther King Jr. ’48, Samuel L. Jackson ’72 and Spike Lee ’79.
Morehouse is now the second historically Black college or university to land President Obama as its commencement speaker. In 2010, the PLOTUS delivered an address at Hampton University.
Morehouse’s commencement ceremony is scheduled for May 19.
