Veteran TV hosts and former major league athletes were named in The Hollywood Reporter‘s 35 Most Powerful People in Media list.
Good Morning America co-anchor Robin Roberts snags a spot on the star-studded list. Roberts returned to the show in February after a five-month leave of absence to treat her blood disorder, myelodysplastic syndrome. The host was recently honored at the Diane Von Furstenberg Awards with a Lifetime Leadership Award.
Live with Kelly and Michael co-host, Michael Strahan also appears on the list of influential media honchos. The former New York Giant took the on-air position last September after appearing on the show twenty times over a two-year period. Strahan is credited for adding a new flair to the talk show, as ratings have dramatically increased in recent months.
Queen of talk Wendy Williams also found herself on ths year’s list. In March, The Wendy Williams Show was given the green light to produce two more months of new episodes (for the summer) due to an increase in local ratings and a recent winning streak over competitors. “I have the greatest fans in daytime TV,” Williams said in a statement. “If it were up to me, we’d have a show every day, all year long.”
