Forest Whitaker and Oprah Winfrey will hit the silver screen this fall in Lee Daniels’ upcoming historical film The Butler.
The drama tells the story of Cecil Gaines (Whitaker), an African-American man who works as a White House butler through several presidencies. Winfrey plays Gloria Gaines, the lead character’s wife. The motion picture is based on the true story of Eugene Allen, who retired from the White House as head butler in 1986 after 34 years of service.
The film also features a star-studded cast, including Terrence Howard, Cuba Gooding Jr., Lenny Kravitz, David Oyelowo and Mariah Carey. It’s scheduled to hit theaters on August 16.
