Paula Deen is out of a job.
The Food Network announced this afternoon they would not be keeping the celebrity chef, 66, on board, reports People.
“Food Network will not renew Paula Deen’s contract when it expires at the end of this month,” said a representative from the network.
In an attempt to clean up her image, Deen issued a video apology this afternoon.
“I want to apologize to everybody for the wrong that I’ve done,” Deen said in the short clip. “I want to learn and grow from this. Inappropriate, hurtful language is totally unacceptable. I’ve made plenty of mistakes along the way, but I beg you, my children, my team, my fans, my partners—I beg for your forgiveness. Please forgive me for the mistakes that I’ve made.”
The star was scheduled to appear on the Today show this morning to discuss her deposition in which she admitted to using the n-word. A rep for Deen told NBC she was too “exhausted” and was unable to make her scheduled interview.
She did however post a second video in which she explained in detail why she missed out on that interview opportunity. “The pain has been tremendous that I have caused to myself and to others,” she said. “So, I’m taking this opportunity, now that I’ve pulled myself together and am able to speak, to offer an apology to those I have hurt.”
