The Scandal star whose first foray into spokesmodeldom was a 2007 contract with L’Oreal Paris, has just been named creative consultant for skincare giant Neutrogena. Beginning early next year, she’ll assume the customary role of looking stunning in ads. But in a first-time move for the brand, Washington’s involvement will extend beyond aspirational icon to include curatorial activities like product development and branding. The mass-market line is largely known for its solutions-oriented skincare: High-performance makeup remover wipes and acne wash are among its most popular products. Also included in the brand’s portfolio is a relatively limited collection of color cosmetics—noticeably absent in the lineup are foundation and concealer shades for darker skin tones. Perhaps Washington, in her new brains-behind-the-brand role will help extend the reach of Neutrogena’s cosmetics line. Here’s hoping.
