See what we’re chatting about over instant coffee:
• Yesterday, Jennifer Hudson received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The event was held outdoors and welcomed droves of fans. Music industry veteran and godfather Clive Davis spoke highly of Hudson’s 10-year career. Hudson also took the stage to say a few kind words about the honor. “I knew I would get emotional and I’m sure my mom is in heaven like ‘Jenny stop crying’ but now’s the time to cry mama, it is,” she said. “This is an amazing honor as we all know and I did not see this coming. I’m so honored to be here with so many that I love and I feel as though we’re all a family.” [E! Online]
• Mariah Carey says she “hated” working on American Idol. (No surprise there!) The diva opened up about the experience with Angie Martinez this week saying, “I thought it was going to be a three-person panel.” Carey compared the experience to working in “hell with Satan.” We wonder who she’s referring to? • Wanda Sykes signed on to produce NBC’s revival of Last Comic Standing. The upcoming show will begin airing new episodes in the summer of 2014. The project will be the first for Sykes under her new Universal Television deal. A host for the series has yet to be announced. [Hollywood Reporter]
• Kerry Washington sent over a batch of cupcakes to the Saturday Night Live crew this week. It was a small token of appreciation for allowing her to host the show. In true SNL fashion, half of the cupcakes read “Who dat” while the remaining half read “Bitch?” An obvious nod to her “The Fox” parody. An attached note explained her sentiments a bit more, “I just loved every single second of my week with you all. Thank you so much.” [E! Online]
