• The box office numbers are in! The Best Man Holiday earned $30.6 million in its debut weekend, nearly edging out its competition, Thor 2, off the top spot. In comparison, the sequel outperformed its predecessor by a wide margin. In 1999, the Best Man earned $9 million in its opening weekend. • Rihanna continues to make great strides in her already booming career. The pop star has officially sold more than 10 million albums in the United States. Her latest album, 2012’s Unapologetic, is on track to become her fourth largest album (in terms of sales). • Lamar Odom is in the process of putting his life back together after a hellish few months—which included reported drug abuse, rehab and marriage troubles. According to E! News, the basketball star is in the final stages of negotiating a deal with the Los Angles Clippers. It’s the same team he played for in 2012-2013 season. Odom reportedly met with both the head coach and general manager on Friday to hammer out a deal. It’s unclear when a final word will be handed down. [E! Online]
• Ashanti is the latest singer to catch the Christmas bug. The star says a new holiday EP is on the way! She tweeted the news, “Still grinding… finishing up Tweeks on the Xmas EP… still got bronchitis.” The album will likely coincide with the release of her new Lifetime holiday film, Christmas in the City, which premieres December 7th at 8 pm.
