If you were a Girlfriend fanatic and are now following the actress on Instagram, your obsession with Tracee Ellis Ross’ on and off camera style runs deep. Does she get it from her mom? Does she just wake up like this? We couldn’t resist a moment to ask those burning fashion questions on the Black Women in Hollywood white carpet, and she delivered.
“I don’t necessarily use a stylist—well I don’t really, and I usually purchase clothing. I work out of my closet, so you will see clothes over and over again. I know that fashion and style is a big part of our industry right now, but fashion and style is something that is a part of my creative expression, so I don’t always dress for what it looks like on the red carpet, I dress for what it feels like,” said Ross, fully outfitted in an Honor Woman three-piece suit.
The moral of the story, folks? Stay true to your personal style.
The live stream of the 7th annual ESSENCE Black Women in Hollywood red-carpet aired Thursday at 2:30 p.m. EST. Catch a recap of the action here.
