Scandal star Columbus Short’s wife Tuere Tanee McCall filed for divorce Wednesday, citing irreconcilable differences.
Tanee asked the court to award her both physical and legal custody of their 2-year-old-daughter Ayala, reports E! News.
Tanee also requested a restraining order from Short, claiming that during an incident on April 7, he approached her, appearing intoxicated, yelling, and grabbed her phone. She says he then proceeded to pour wine on her and “acted as if he was about to hit me with the bottle. Tanee claims Short got a knife from the kitchen, pinned her to a couch and choked her, threatening to kill her and himself.
In a statement issued to Essence today, Short said, “As much as I would like to provide my side of events, my counsel has instructed me that a Court of law is the only and proper venue to deal with such matters.”
“Accordingly, I must refrain from making any comments even though that is very difficult for me under the circumstances.”
Tanee’s request for a temporary restraining order was granted. A hearing will be held May 6 to determine whether it will be made permanent.
