Don Cheadle transforms into the late great jazz musician Miles Davis for the much-anticipated biopic, Miles Ahead. In the photo, Cheadle hits the nail on the head with Davis’ signature hair, 70’s style holding his trumpet.
Cheadle tells Entertainment Weekly the film is not necessarily a biopic, but “a gangster pic.”
“It’s a movie that Miles Davis would have wanted to star in.” said Cheadle. “Without throwing history away, we’re trying to shuffle it and make it more cubist. The bulk of it takes place in ’79, in a period where he actually wasn’t playing. But we traverse a lot of it his life, but it’s not a cradle to grave story.”
Cheadle has been trying to bring the film to life since 2006 and recently launched a crowdfunding campaign. To date, he has raised $308,120 of the film’s $325,000 goal. The film is being shot now in Cincinnati, Ohio. No release date has been set.
