Comedy Central has inked Robin Thede as head writer for the newest addition to their late night lineup, The Minority Report with Larry Wilmore, reports Deadline.
Thede has built a solid resume as an improvisational comedian, actress and writer. She co-wrote FunnyorDie skits like “For (Stuffed) Colored Girls” and “Real Housewives of Civil Rights and starred in the sketch comedy series In The Flow With Affion Crockett. A former head writer for The Queen Latifah Show, Thede also wrote the first two seasons of BET’s Real Husbands of Hollywood.
“I would love to be called the Black Tina Fey; I think what she does is smart,” Thede told ESSENCE.com back in 2010.
Minority Report is the first of it’s kind for the Comedy Central. The network hopes to infuse a diverse panel of voices into a late-night roster that is predominantly white. The show will be a comedic take on the daily news and pop culture. It is slated to begin airing in January 2015.
