Oprah Winfrey has sold Harpo Studios, according to EurWeb. While Winfrey’s company Harpo Inc. will remain intact, they will soon no longer occupy their studio in Chicago.
“We have entered into a purchasing agreement with Sterling Bay for the four-building Harpo Studios campus in Chicago’s West Loop,” a spokeswoman from Harpo said. “The property will be leased back to Harpo for two years and the studio will continue to produce programming for OWN.”
Harpo Studios employs over 200 people in the Chicago area. This was Winfrey’s last remaining commercial real estate property in Chicago, which she left three years ago to create the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) in Los Angeles.
