Never mind the fact that it was only Larry Wilmore’s second night on the air. Last night, the The Nightly Show host went in on Bill Cosby.
He wondered why people are questioning the accusers’ authenticity when Cosby has raped 34 or 35 women (he said that if the difference between 34 and 35 women mattered to someone, then they could get lost. He did use slightly more colorful language, however), saying that that number of alleged victims would be the same as “raping every president from Washington to Kennedy.”
“Why aren’t people listening to these women?” he pleaded. “Because most of this allegedly happened so long ago? Is it because some of them went to Cosby’s hotel room alone? Is it because there are no Polaroids? Is it because he’s so famous, or is it just because they’re women? I would say, enough have come forward. The current tally stands at 35 woman. Really folks, how many do we need?”
Lastly, he had a trinket of wisdom for Cosby’s PR team and his ongoing comedy tour, “Far From Finished” (or, what Wilmore called “Cosby’s tone-deaf comedy jam”): “If your client is being accused of brutal assaults on a weekly basis, maybe don’t say he’s far from finished.”
