Tidal is adding more original content to its repertoire.
The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that the Jay-Z owned music streaming service, Tidal, will now include an unscripted standup comedy series, No Small Talk, hosted by DJ Cipha Sounds. The first five episodes of the series will be available to subscribers beginning November 3 and new episodes will release each Tuesday.
The company hopes to draw in new customers by offering the first episode of the series for free to non-subscribers. The announcement of the No Small Talk addition comes almost two weeks after it was first reported that Tidal will also air an original scripted series, Money and Violence. In January, Tidal will pick up broadcast of the second season of the series as the first season originally aired via YouTube.
Tidal, launched in March as an a music and video service that offers subscribers access to a catalog that includes some 35 million songs, several thousand music videos, an array of short films, and other video content. For $9.99 a month, listeners have access to artist-friendly songs that streams to offer a higher percentage of royalties to musicians and songwriters.
