Uzo Aduba knows a thing or two about winning—the actress has snagged two Primetime Emmys, and she just won her second SAG award.
Aduba just took home the Screen Actors Guild award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series for her role as Suzanne “Crazy Eyes” Warren in Netflix’s Orange is the New Black. Aduba shared her winning night with castmates as Orange is the New Black also won for Best Ensemble for the second year in a row.
Aduba used her win to share a few words of encouragement for actors who haven’t gotten their big break yet. “I would like to take an opportunity to acknowledge the actors who are at home, not here in this room with us but hoping to one day be in this room with us to continue to keep trying, to keep plugging, to keep working no matter if anybody tells you to get out of that line that you’re waiting in. Stay in line, you have the chance, it is yours,” she said.
“Look at this stage, this is what we talk about when we talk about diversity,” said actress Laura Prepon (Alex Vause), alluding to the #OscarsSoWhite controversy in Hollywood.
Congrats to the cast!
