The cast of Ava DuVernay’s OWN drama series, Queen Sugar, has announced some new additions.
Dondré Whitfield, Tina Lifford, Timon Kyle Durrett and Nicholas L. Ashe will star in the show, which revolves around siblings from New Orleans who attempt to keep their family Sugarcane farm afloat.

True Blood actress Rutina Wesley has been tapped to portray the main character, Nova Bordelon.
Whitfield will star as Remy Newell, a family friend who is employed on the farm as a water irrigation specialist. Lifford will play Violet, aunt to the Bordelon childen and a vibrant woman who is in a committed relationship with her much younger boyfriend, Hollywood Desonier, played by Ray Donovan actor Omar Dorsey.
Durrett and Ashe star as father and son Davis and Micah, respectively.
Production for Queen Sugar begins this month. Shooting will take place in both New Orleans and Los Angeles.
