Director X has maintained a remarkable career in music, having worked on videos for Sean Paul, Nelly Furtado and Usher to name a few. He’s also the person who gave life to Drake’s visually stunning video for “Hotline Bling.” Once again, the iconic director has produced another great video, Rihanna’s double feature “Work,” featuring Drake.

When the video for the song dropped Monday, fans nearly collapsed after realizing that there were two videos in one. The director told Complex that the idea for the video had to match the song’s vibe:
“It’s a very West Indian style record and we wanted to give them a very West Indian style video. It all just kind of made sense. “

Another thing people couldn’t stop talking about was the chemistry between RiRi and Drake. X admitted that they have a great natural chemistry.
“They’re good friends, right? They’ve known each other a long time now, since Drake’s mixtape I think they’ve been friends. There’s a real energy between the two and it’s obvious that they’re not hiding it or pretending, and there’s a chemistry that works. “

X also says one of the highlights of creating visuals for “Work” was working with Rihanna again. Prior to that it had been 11 years since the two collaborated on the singer’s video for “Pon de Replay.”
