A Georgia high school student and her family are outraged and heartbroken after the teen recorded audio of her teacher harshly insulting her during a lesson.
Green County High School junior Shaniaya Hunter said that she was trying to catch up in class after missing a few days of school due to a chronic eye condition, reports WSB-TV. After asking a question, the unidentified teacher began criticizing her, calling her “dumb” and pointing out her eye condition.

Hunter, who was recording the lesson on her school-issued iPad, was able to capture the interaction.
“I have been around for 37 years, and clearly, you are the dumbest girl that I have ever met,” the teacher allegedly said. “…You know what your purpose is going to be? To have sex and have children because you ain’t never going to be smart.”

After the incident occurred in December, Hunter’s mother, Cathy Wright, filed a complaint with the school district; however, its response, she says, has been lackluster. Hunter’s family has hired an attorney and is now demanding that the teacher either step down or be fired.
“This man does not need to be teaching young children,” attorney Ben Windham told WSB-TV. “It’s not a gray area. End of story.”
