Working Mother magazine just issued its list of the 50 Most Powerful Moms of the year, and just in time for Mother’s Day. Among the moms are our favorites Beyoncé, Kerry Washington, and new to the listing Viola Davis.
Beyoncé Shares Behind-the-Scenes Photos of ‘Formation’ Tour Kickoff
The list commends Beyoncé for her accomplishments in the performing arts stating, “There’s no stopping this force of nature – every time she sets a bar, she scales it with her next accomplishments.” Beyoncé’s recent accomplishments include being submitted for an Emmy nomination for her visual album Lemonade that became her sixth No. 1 album to top the 200 Billboard chart.
On Kerry Washington, who is expecting her second child, Working Mother states “Kerry’s gusto extends well beyond the parameters of a camera shot,” praising Washington for her community work in organizations that empower domestic violence and financial abuse survivors.
Viola Davis on Parenting Mistakes: ‘You Don’t Want to Be Judged by Your Worst Mistakes’
Viola Davis, who makes her debut on this year’s list, is recognized for being the first Black woman of any nationality to win an Emmy for her role in How to Get Away with Murder. “She’s been long respected and revered by her professional peers for an outstanding body of powerful acting performances,” boasts the magazine.
While the list weighs in income and professional stature, “the ability to influence and inspire us to reach higher and further in building better lives for ourselves” is very much taken into account in complying these greats.
