Rousteing, who started playing football at 10-years-old and believes the players are the new icons of today, took special care to design the women’s and men’s pieces with the footballers in mind.
‘Would a football player really wear that?’ was a recurring inquiry during his design process.
He chose black and gold as the theme of the apparel and footwear in the NikeLab capsule collection, which also features gold hardware and embroidery. Black for its sleek look and timelessness, while gold represents victory.

The answer to his question is yes on both ends. “What I love about this collection is that we are integrating the iconic style of football into sport style,” Rousteing said of the finished product in a statement.
In a behind-the-scenes video, French footballer Blaise Matuidi said, “Black and gold is a great color mix that suits me perfectly. It’s both cool and classy.”
“The collection represents football as you find a whole series of elements that are present in all the football kits I’ve worn over the years,” added Laure Boulleau.
