A California jury has reached a verdict in the case of Shield actor Michael Jace, who was charged with killing his wife, April, in 2014.
After a week-long trial, a jury convicted Jace of second-degree murder, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Jace has never denied killing April, though his attorneys argued that he should be shared with voluntary manslaughter since he didn’t intend to kill her.

According to Deputy District Attorney Tannaz Mokayef, Jace was upset because he believed that his wife was having an affair and was going to ask him for a divorce. He grabbed his revolver, intending to shoot himself, but at the last minute, decided to shoot April in the legs so that she could feel pain.
Instead, as the couple’s then 8- and 5-year-old sons watched, he shot her in the back before shooting her in both legs. He called police as soon as he shot her.

I just ruined lives,” he told detectives after the shooting. “Four lives. I mean, you could put the needle in my arm right now and be done. I’m fine with that.”
Jace faces 50 years to life in prison.
