Hip hop trailblazer, actress, talk show host and accomplished businesswoman Queen Latifah will be celebrated at the VH1 Hip Hop Honors: All Hail The Queens, and a few of her fellow music industry peers are coming together to join in on the festivities.
The proud New Jersey native has spent much of her career advocating for women and breaking down gender barriers through her music, business ventures, and charity work, so there will certainly be much to celebrate. According to an exclusive report from Billboard, an all-star lineup of rap veterans are scheduled to pay tribute to the Queen in one way or another during the show, including Da Brat, Common, Naughty By Nature, and MC Lyte.
In addition to earning the title of one of the most respected female voices in hip hop history, Queen Latifah’s accomplishments include the establishment of her Flava Unit entertainment company, a successful CoverGirl Queen cosmetics line and serving as the host of her very own talk show. She has also found success in Hollywood with a solid acting career that saw her win her first Emmy Award in 2016.
Queen Latifah is one of four female hip hop icons set to be honored at the celebration alongside Lil’ Kim, Missy Elliott and Salt-N-Pepa. VH1 Hip-Hop Honors: All Hail The Queens will air live at 9 p.m. on Monday, July 11.
